Hashim is a statistician with Master’s degree in social research and evaluation from the University of Huddersfield and Master’s degree from the University of Nairobi in international relations. Hashim has worked in senior government positions in Somalia including in Ministry of Planning and international Cooperation and as data analyst at the national statistics office. Among his roles were coordinating the regional statistical systems and its integration in to the national statistical information systems and provide training to statisticians in regional offices. He also worked as consultant to various NGOs based in Somalia including at the Heritage Institute and Somali Congress of Trade Unions among others.
